Match the illuminated field to the edge measurement
Collimated backlighting is a distinct illumination choice for imaging an object in transmission. The usable field and measurement result depend on the particular light and imaging arrangement. Start with the full part envelope, camera field and space behind the part, then compare the published light dimensions.
- Check the emitting area separately from the body dimensions and allow margin for part positioning, fixtures and the complete camera field.
- Compare the selected light and lens arrangement on the actual object edges. Do not treat the collimated classification as a universal angular or measurement-accuracy rating.
- Verify mounting clearance, supply, power, connector and controller requirements before fixing the station layout or ordering the electrical components.
