Set the angle from the part surface
Low-angle illumination is useful when the inspection depends on light scattered by surface features. Its result depends on the material and the camera-light-part geometry. Use the ring dimensions and model data to plan a trial, keeping the illumination angle separate from the camera viewing angle.
- Check the inner opening, outer diameter and mounting height so the lens view remains clear and the light reaches the region of interest.
- Compare colour and output with the surface and camera response. Test the feature and background together; a lighting geometry alone does not guarantee defect contrast.
- Confirm the supply, connector, control mode and mounting arrangement for the chosen light, and allow adjustment of distance and angle in the fixture.
